Last night, several of the members of CSS attended the croning ritual of a dear friend, Cailet. The ritual was held at Awarn and Willow's beautiful home and was orchestrated by the fantastic mocha goddess, Gryn.
I was honored to call North and Salix called South. I wonder if Cailet knew how appropriate that is. It was a very sweet ritual honoring a very sweet woman.
A croning is another type of ritual that marks the turning of the wheel of one's life. In this ritual, the woman who is being croned is honored among her friends and family as one who has attained the status of wise woman. She has left the wilds of youth and the fertility of motherhood behind and has entered into the dark half of her life.
This is the time of her life, when her focus turns to the greater good of those in her community. She is seasoned through time and trials and she is willing to share this wisdom with those who seek her guidance. She is the embodiment of the dark goddess. She wears her age as a badge of honor and she carries with her the memories of lifetimes.
We all wish Cailet the best as she takes these initial steps onto her new journey as a crone.
Blessed Be!

Samhain 2007
The Wheel of the Year is turning yet again to the dark half of the year. Samhain (pronounced Sow-in for our non-pagan friends) is the Witches' New Year; a time of introspection, shaking off the old year and communing with those who have passed through the veil and into the land of the dead.
What lessons have you learned over this past year that you will carry with you into the next? What are some of the things you will discard as we step into this new season?
The Dark Goddess is pregnant with possibilities for the new year. She rests and waits as the world is engulfed in darkness. When we enter the womb of the Mother; we too learn the value of silence and see the beauty in death. For, without death, there can be no rebirth. Without destruction, there would be no room for new growth.
We listen to her voice. We seek wisdom from our guides and we wait. We eagerly await the arrival of Her promise; the birth of the sun!
Blessings,
Kira Adora of CSS
